Progress report from Carolyn Edlebeck, Head of Programming, CRS Ghana
“I’m happy to share with you the WAN 2020 Progress Report. Although there have been a few delays due to government restrictions on movement, group gatherings, etc. with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been able to still make great strides in community assessments/site selection, signing of contracts with drilling contractors/consultants, formation and training of 22 out of 30 Water and Sanitation Management Teams (WSMTs) and partnership engagements with SAHA Global. With the recent easing of restrictions, we’ve started to double-down on activities in order to catch up with lost time and are confident we’ll deliver as expected by April 2021.
In addition, in your previous email you mentioned Mary Queen of Peace buckets of compassion raised over $20,000 recently! That’s amazing! Please send our sincere appreciation. If they are wondering what this donation can support as part of the overall WAN 2020 project, kindly let them know this amount will cover either:
3 boreholes with handpumps and cluster-based WSMT training
1 mechanized system and community-based WSMT training for a healthcare facility
As the saying goes, “Water is Life” and the relevance of the support by WAN, especially in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, cannot be overemphasized. WAN’s support (past and present) is ensuring that communities, schools, and healthcare facilities have safe water to perform basic sanitation and hygiene practices to help prevent the spread of the virus and many other infections. Project beneficiaries are healthier due to this partnership and appreciative WAN’s tremendous effort and sacrifice to improve their wellbeing. Thanks for all you do!”
